This Week In St. Louis: Jun. 3 - 9, 2019

MON. JUN. 3

@ B-Side | 7pm | $5
-Jackal (FL)
-Speed (Kansas City, MO)
-Prism #1
-Soulcraft

Jackal blasts through a dark and guttural set of breakneck punk. The band brings a level of pure energy that propels each song, giving every chord a frantic feel. Their tourmates in Speed are pretty straightforward about what they bring to the table - a headrush of hardcore.

THU. JUN. 6

@ Marsh | 8pm | $5-$7
-Mezzanine Swimmers (NY)
-Blank Thomas
-Big Step

Mezzanine Swimmers has been through town before, but the New York-based solo artist has been at his best in recent months. Last year's Black Cat in Heat was an exploration of rotten pop mixed with drone and static-soaked loops, and his current live set seems to dive even deeper into that deranged sound.

FRI. JUN. 7

@ Foam | 9pm | $5-$7
-Thirdface (Nashville, TN)
-Waterproof
-Skin Tags

As metallic and sharp as Thirdface sounds, the band is wound super tight. You could call this punk, but the Nashville crew might not fit everyone's definition just right. The video above will give a general vibe of what to expect, but this is the kind of band that comes at you differently live.

These are just some highlights. See the side bar for more!
