MON. JAN. 14
@ Flood Plain | 8pm | $5-$7
-Bobb Hatt (OH)
Using little more than a saxophone, Bobb Hatt is able to bend the vibe of a room to his whims. He has a magnetic presence despite letting loose an often harsh and tense squalor. The local lineup is a long list of St. Louis favorites, making this show a good starting point for 2019 whether you're new to avant garde shows or firmly in the know.
WED. JAN. 16
@ CBGB | 9pm | $5
CRT blends a blown out, distorted drum machine with hard synth lines that lean into post-punk territory. Everything here is cranked and bathed in static, making for dense and synthetic set of songs. By performing with progression in mind, Sea Priestess is a storyteller who tells tales through buoyant pop and sculpted noise in equal measure.
SAT. JAN. 19
@ Link Auction Galleries | 8pm
New Music Circle presents:
The first big New Music Circle event of 2019 brings Sarah Davachi and Lea Bertucci to St. Louis as solo performers, each offering a nuanced approach to synthesizer and saxophone, respectively. In Davachi's case, she carries with her a master's degree in electronic music along with years of experience playing in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Bertucci is equally compelling, offering up slow burning saxophone pieces through use of feedback and extended technique.
These are just some highlights. See the side bar for more!
