This Week In St. Louis: Jan. 31, 2018 - Feb 6, 2019

MON. DEC. 31

@ Foam | 8pm | $25/$30
NYE Beach Goth Luau:

So St. Louis' resident vampire is doing a very high-end New Year's Eve dinner party with promise of beach-side shenanigans -- an opportunity for denizens of the night to have their "fun in the sun" minus the sun part. Arriving on time at 8 will net you the option for a dinner with food from Plantain Girl, but anyone can show up after 9 for the Luau and live music.

@ Foam | 9pm | donation$
-Steven Senger (Springfield, MO)
-Faulter (Srpingfield, MO)

Springfield native Steven Senger lays bare, sordid riffs on a dark bed of synth and simple beats. The fusion of guitar with an electronic backbone makes for a rock solid pairing of textures. And that choice of instrumentation allows Senger a great deal of nuance, making for songs that feel airy and immediate.

@ Foam | 9pm | $5-$7 | all ages
-The Resource Network (Indianapolis, IN)
-Big Hog (Indianapolis, IN)

Not afraid to inject a bouncy garage vibe into an infectiously catchy brand of punk, the Resource Network makes songs that feel impossibly dense. But the result here is instantly accessible, as the shred and gnar are wound into an overall taut sound. Tourmates Big Hog rush through angular riffs at mach speed, occasionally slamming on the breaks so they can make solid hardcore out of the resulting peel out.

@ Flood Plain | 8pm
Analog Revenge III:
-Rich O' Donnell
-Mike Murphy
-Kevin Harris
-Josh Kahl

The latest in the HEARDing Cats Collective "Analog Revenge" shows offers up St. Louis' foremost purveyors of the analog synth in the narrow confines of the Flood Plain art gallery. Expect an intimate performance of experimental electronic music by a crew of players that have more than 100 combined years of experience doing so.

These are just some highlights. See the side bar for more!
