This Week In St. Louis: Sep. 10 - 16, 2018

TUE. SEP. 11

@ CBGB | 9pm | donation$
-Fond Han (NJ)
-Options (Chicago, IL)
-A Leaf In The Street
-Complainer

Fond Han seamlessly weaves taut indie-leaning hooks with howling sections of noise rock. The way this New Jersey power trio uses contrast helps to maintain a high level of dynamism for the full set. Their tourmates in Options provide a clinic in songwriting with an emphasis on simple yet infectious riffs. A Leaf in the Street, led by multi-instrumentalist and local composer Kaleb Kirby, kicks off this show around 9pm.

FRI. SEP. 14

@ El Lenador | 8pm | $5-$10
-Butthole (Nashville, TN)
-Gender Confetti (Madison, WI)
-Glassmen (Madison, WI)
-Sea Priestess
-Whsky Janetor
+more

Even before Nashville's Butthole was added to the show, this night has always been a mini-fest with local weirdos acting as the buffer around several diverse touring acts. Sure, the music is a highlight here, but let's not forget that this is an official MUSTACHE DADDY event -- in fact, it's dubbed "A dREAm show" and has additional performances by Joss Barton, Simon Slutbeard-Glamour, H. Blaize, Lindy Wormwood and Frank Sirracha.

SAT. SEP. 15

@ The Juice | 9pm | donation$
-Tom Boil (Tulsa, OK)
-Carroll Sims Trio (Peoria, IL)
-Razor Cult

Tom Boil claims to sit somewhere between Sun City Girls, Lightning Bolt and Sonic Youth among many others. While it's hard to trace these influences through Tom Boil's intense and electric set of noisy songs, there's one commonality here: volume. With the Juice's relatively small size, expect to be bathed in a loud sea of howling guitar.

These are just so highlights. See the side bar for more!
