This Week In St. Louis: Apr. 30 - May 6, 2018

@ Foam | 9pm | all ages
-Golden Oriole (Norway)
-Flesh Narc (Austin, TX)
-Kingston Family Singers

Golden Oriole invokes a trance-like state through the use of stilted syncopation and repetition that recalls kraut rock. The Norway outfit features former members of Staer, a more metal-leaning group that used the same distinct rhythmic rip. While it sounds like hyperbole, this drummer is one of our favorites that we've ever seen live -- no video or recording does him justice. Tourmates Flesh Narc sling noxious no-wave while St. Louis' own Alex Cunningham joins two out-of-towners for a trio to close out the show.

@ Kerr Foundation | 9:30pm | $5
-Gel Set (Los Angeles, CA)
-Twins (Atlanta, GA)
-Pineapple RNR
-DJ Urlike

Kerr Foundation hosts a burner to foreshadow summer with Gel Set and Twins both pushing pointillist dance music that ranges from pop-sensible to heady and heavy. Pineapple RNR makes a break in the lineup with a bouncy brand of post-punk with sharp claws. The hooks dig deep.

@ Cherokee Street | 11am | free | all ages
Cinco De Mayo:
-Brendan Wells' Plant Music (MN)
-Cherry Death (OK)
-Jane Wave
-Trauma Harness
+many more

Cherokee Street's Cinco De Mayo celebration has a full range of genres split between three distinct stages. Among them is a more punk-inspired lineup that reads like a solid show you might see at Bonerville or CBGB on a Saturday night. Every act is a stand-out, so we suggest camping out for the day where you'll be hit with live music coming from all sides.

These are just some highlights. Check the sidebar for more!
