THURS. JAN. 5

@ Schlafly Tap Room | 9pm | free | all ages
-Vernacular String Trio
-Marble//Wall
-Toni Saputo

A night of improvisations, compositions and experimental pieces that fall somewhere between. Expect strings (as made evident by Vernacular STRING Trio), keys and percussion for a free event at one of St. Louis' most consistent music venues.

FRI. JAN. 6

@ CBGB | 8pm | donation$ | 21+
Benefit Show for Doctors Without Borders:
-The Mercs
-Traveling Sound Machine
-Pirate Signal
-The Vigilettes

The narrow confines of CBGB provide the right kind of tunnel vision for frills-free rock and roll. Hopefully you're still feeling the season of giving after the recent glut of holiday benefit shows.

SAT. JAN. 7

@ The Sinkhole | 9pm | $5-$7
-Falling (Minneapolis, MN)
-Good Doom (Minneapolis, MN)
-Royal Vessels
-Cold Rooms

For the last year or two, Minneapolis' chief export has been solid bands who quickly garner national hype of varying degrees and the same holds true for Falling. Good Doom's wiry, melodic shoegaze tampers with the typical formula of thick, reverbed-out guitars to offer a more nuanced palate with its songs.

These are just some highlights. Check the sidebar for more!
