Little Big Bangs (record release)
@ Vintage Vinyl / 6610 Delmar Blvd.

Star Power is the latest from south city outfit Little Big Bangs, who merges heady grunge with early Fugazi-esque leanings. Since its inception, the band has polished its pop songs with acid, and the latest set shows Little Big Bangs more confident than ever in its distinct approach. This show is a free in-store performance at one of St. Louis' best and long-standing record shops.

Buffalo-native Pat Cain blends horn and stringent electronics, taking on harsh texture to build thick walls of noise. His busy style comes by merging the natural sounds of a saxophone with a synthetic blend, and the total control of all these parts throughout is notable. But his sets tend to feel like less of a short, angsty burst and more of an overarching ambiance that tells a story.
