This Week in St. Louis 3/16/15 - 3/22/15

The Lemons (Chicago, IL)
The Sueves (Chicago, IL)
The Funs
Animal Teeth
@ Foam / 3359 S. Jefferson Ave.
7 p.m. / $6 / all ages

The Lemons pack sandy beach jams into a swampy garage rock slop, so lap it up you dogs. If nothing else, come for the Funs before they leave on tour or for hometown heroes Animal Teeth.

Wolf Eyes (MI)
Brain Transplant
@ The Luminary / 2701 Cherokee St.
8 p.m. / $10-$12 / all ages

Legendary American noise alums Wolf Eyes stun with stilted beats under trashy industrial noise. Songs move slow through the muck with subtle shifts in timing and tempo. Brain-bending guitar trio Yowie brings the most progressive kind of rock music you've ever heard. Some bands talk about being "futuristic," but Yowie fucks the space-time fabric with atonal riffs and perfect percussion.

Fake Surfers (MI)
Growwing Pains (MI)
The Brainstems
@ CBGB / 3163 S. Grand Ave.
10 p.m. / $7 / 21+

Maybe this is the after show you're looking for? Fake Surfers bring straight rock that's both a guilty pleasure and a badge of honor. Catchy hooks dig through even the thickest skin of jaded punks. So there. The Brainstems' new tape is a ripper too -- come see it live.

Bludded Head (Denton, TX)
O'ó (TX)
Van Buren
@ Foam / 3359 S. Jefferson Ave.
10 p.m. / $5 / all ages

Foam billed this show as the "unofficial Wolf Eyes after party," and for good reason. Bludded Head and Van Buren both bring metallic punk sludge through heady guitar driven songs, but O'ó might be the real gem. The improv group touts a free-jazz variant that deals out equal parts harsh noise and doom metal.

Slimy Member (TX)
Nos Bos
@ Melt / 2712 Cherokee St.
9 p.m. / $5-$7 / all ages

Hardcore with "slimy" in the name? Where have we heard that one before? It's only fitting that Texas band Slimy Member plays with Lumpy Recs alumni Ruz and Nos Bos. The line-up becomes even more of a no-brainer when you hear the video above. "I found that sewer sound ya' been lookin' for."

Curt Oren (Iowa City, IA)
Skarekrau Radio
@ Schlafly Tap Room / 2100 Locust Street
9 p.m. / free / all ages

Through iron lungs and circular breathing, Curt Oren plays harsh, relentless saxophone. There are songs here, but they come quick and leave before wearing out any kind of welcome. Oren often collaborates with local artists, so don't be surprised if he guest cameos for Googolplexia or local no-wave cult Skarekrau Radio.

Flood Yr Face presents:
Jeff Carey (Baltimore, MD)
C10 (Baltimore, MD)
Trish Devine (Baltimore, MD)
@ Lemp Arts Center / 3301 Lemp Ave.
8 p.m. / $5 / all ages

St. Louis ex-pat and longtime noise stalwart Josh Levi relocated to the east coast, but his legacy lives on. Hear some sounds from his new neck of the woods by catching his cohorts during this highly recommended triple-threat bill of full-on electronic assault.
