This Week in St. Louis 1/5/15 - 1/11/15

MONDAY, JAN. 5

Lizard Police (Tulsa, OK)
Maximum Effort
Braining
@ Foam / 3359 S. Jefferson Ave.
10 p.m. / $5 / all ages

Someone penned this description for Tulsa's Lizard Police, and we can't possibly think of a better way to nutshell it: "Think if Thin Lizzy made pop punk songs on mushrooms. And had twins that formed a rhythm section." The band's latest EP is called "Couch Mountain," and that sure as hell is a hilltop we'd like to live on.

THURSDAY, JAN. 8

Dress Code (Houston, TX)
Paranoid Chant (Houston, TX)
Ruz
@ Bonerville
9 p.m. / $5 / all ages

Does anyone else think that three-band bills are the trifecta of punk perfection? Two Houston hardcore bands hit Bonerville's basement hard, and you can expect that they'll keep things staunch and stabby.

FRIDAY, JAN. 9

Jollys (Chicago, IL)
Shitstorm
Baby Sun God
@ Foam / 3359 S. Jefferson Ave.
9 p.m. / $5 / all ages

Foam makes way for a Friday night filled with good old-fashioned rock'n'roll. Grab a beer and get in the groove with Chicago's Jollys, who play mellowed-out garage jams that'll juxtapose nicely with Shitstorm's driving drum-and-guitar slams.

SATURDAY, JAN. 10

The Coneheads (IN)
Genocide Pact (Washington, D.C.)
Maximum Effort
Black Panties
@ Karl's Place
8 p.m. / $7 / all ages

Two tours collide in a basement somewheres and the resulting explosion means more bang for yer music-lovin' buck. The Coneheads pen some truly catchy tunes likened to Devo on speed, while Genocide Pact wrecks its way in from DC with shred-heavy death metal.
