Graham's Top Picks for December 2013

Graham Matthews bounces from show to show with a handy-cam, collecting the odds and ends of music in St. Louis. There is absolutely no genre-bend in his coverage, made evident by an ever growing Youtube channel, which features thousands of videos of independent artists. Once a month, Graham sends us a list of 5 picks from his personal channel.

Bitchin Bajas at Contemporary Art Museum

Peaceful and droning. This one might calm your nerves after all that racket below.

Stabbing Contest at The Mad Magician

One of the scariest performances of Rob Ruzicka's band lotto show. What the hell is that singer doing? Who does a somersault off the stage to start a set? Oh gross, he's bleeding. At 5:41, he becomes a biohazard, spraying bloody-nose-blood into the face of an innocent audience member. I think I just gagged a little bit. Can someone make a GIF of that moment?

Blood of the Unicorn at The Mad Magician

After some furious mic cord whipping, Austin The Unicorn wanders into the crowd where the astonished onlookers start to pet him, wag their fingers to his song, and even mount and ride him. Slaughterchops at The Mad Magician

The very first song of the band lotto this year set the bar pretty high pretty fast. This is what got the other bands drinking early.

Daren's Jimmy Johns at The Mad Magician

This might have been my favorite single song of the night. It's just so catchy. What does John want? A deep crust? A meat sub? You know what, don't tell me. It's better that way.
