Top 5 in July from Graham

Graham Matthews bounces from show to show with a handy-cam, collecting the odds and ends of music in St. Louis. There is absolutely no genre-bend in his coverage, made evident by an ever growing Youtube channel, which features thousands of videos of independent artists. Once a month, Graham sends us a list of 5 picks from his personal channel.

Trauma Harness at Foam STL MO 7/2/13

After tearing through a furious set, aided by bizarre Halloween 3 VHS-visuals, Trauma Harness finishes up with a noisy, experimental breakdown and then sings Happy Birthday to me! A great start to a great day.

Blood Orange covers Sky Ferreira, Union Park Chicago, IL 7/21/13
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xflCFF8xTV0
Blood Orange surprises fans with a cover of Sky Ferreira's big hit just a few hours before she is scheduled to play the same stage. We didn't see her actual performance, but this partial cover was really all we needed.

M.I.A. plays Bucky Done Gun & Bird Flu remix at Union Park, Chicago, IL 7/21/13

Pushy, pushy crowd excited as hell to see their idol, M.I.A. This video somewhat captures the rowdiness of the crowd, and also has a solid Bird Flu remix that sounds better than the original.

Britches tour kick-off at The Livery Company STL MO 7/30/13

Britches always impresses us with innovative songs and ideas. This night the whole band impressed me with their devoted professionalism. Marty had a guitar strap issue during this song, but you'd hardly even notice since the band keeps the dark vibes going without a hitch while he fixed his gear. Champions.

The Postal Service at The Midland, Kansas City, MO 7/31/13

Guess what, you're at a Postal Service show! Dreams come true, though sometimes you have to drive to Kansas City to make them happen.
