Recommended Shows This Week 1/28/2013 - 2/3/2013

PAK (Providence, RI)
Dungeon Broads (Providence, RI)
Ghost Ice
Blemished Stone

@ Apop Records / 2831 Cherokee St.
8 p.m. / $5 / all ages

If tape loops and swampy sounds aren't your thing, look elsewhere. If you're skeptical on noise, come see Ghost Ice. He's our prophet of synthesized sound and rarely comes out to play. Get ready for a brain tear.

Hyrrokkin (Yellow Springs, OH)
The Cell Phones (Chicago, IL)
The Baby Magic (Chicago, IL)
Spelling Bee

@ Schlafly Tap Room / 2100 Locust St.
8 p.m. / FREE / all ages
The Cell Phones and Baby Magic bring wild indie from the Windy City. Hyrrokkin travels from Ohio to pile on brainy-jams via punk and jazz. Tap Room is the only spot in St. Louis to bring three touring bands for the price of free, and their space is open to all ages. Come for the range of indie to experimental, with all groups bearing punk flavor.

Bloody Knives (Austin, TX)
Bug Chaser
Tone Rodent
Demon Lover

@ Plush / 3224 Locust St.
8 p.m. / $6 / 18+
4 bands fill Plush's tall stage with noisy shoegaze. Austin's Bloody Knives return after tearing up El Lenador last winter, and bring a new line-up to promote their latest record "Blood."

Bath House Boys
(coming out party!)
@ Bad Dog Bar & Grill / 3960 Chouteau
9 p.m. / free / 21+

This is the coming out party for a power trio who may or not be power bottoms...or power tops. Maybe both? Neither? Catch the live drag show or chill with dirty rapper Escalade. So many options, so little body hair.

Egg Chef just released a compilation of recordings comprised of EPs, tapes and unreleased tracks through Bandcamp. Egg Chef was active from 2009 to late 2011. The group ended shortly after releasing a 7" record through APOP Records. Here's the embed, check it out!
